New Sails
Arun Sails produce a range of bespoke sails for a wide range of sailing and
sailing yachts.
We have developed 'In-house' designs for sails for virtually all production
yachts but are very happy to incorporate features to suit any particular
requirement that a boat builder or sailor may have.
We pride ourselves on listening to our customers and spending the time to ensure
customer satisfaction.
The sails are designed using computers and using the most up to date software,
data and techniques available in the industry.
Each sail is designed, cut and shaped to give the best performance for your boat for the conditions in which you plan to sail. Special attention is paid to areas of stress and wear and tear with a view to either eliminating the cause or to spreading the stress into the sail. We hand finish our sails with care using quality hardware.
Cruising Sails
Designed with the cruising sailor in mind, these sails are made in woven Dacron with quality fittings to give years of trouble free sailing. Made specifically for our individual customers these sails will fit and set well and are suitable for the majority of sailors sailing in UK coastal and offshore waters.
Ocean Cruising Sails
Where sailors are intending to be away from land for long periods of time or venturing to places where environmental conditions are more extreme or possibly where services may not be readily available we take a belt and braces stand so stitching, hardware and cloth upgrades maybe incorporated into the design.
Performance Cruising Sails
These sails have all the advantages of our cruising sails and will appeal to those sailors who have the need to ' hurry up ' and may take part in Club and Regatta racing. Various cloth and hardware upgrades are available depending on the sail required. HYDRA-NET©, a high tenacity woven fabric with a net of Dyneema or SQUARE©, a balanced weave fabric with a Ripstop pattern of heavier denier yarns are two very popular fabrics for more performance orientated customers.
Sail Cloth
We use top quality woven Dacron for the standard sails we produce, available
in white, tan or cream. For cloth upgrades please the notes above. For our
cruising chutes, spinnakers and gennikas we use 65g Ripstop nylon in a selection
of colours so customers are able to choose their own design for complete
individuality.
The cloth is supplied by Dimension Polyant of Germany, one of the largest
sailcloth manufacturers in the world. Please visit their website for more
details of their cloth and company profile.
